Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how EasyBookSummary (“EBS”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses information when you use our website and services (the “Service”). We keep our own collection minimal and disclose how advertising partners may handle data to deliver and measure ads.
1) What We Collect (Minimal by Design)
- Book Title & Language: to generate and cache summaries.
- IP Address: used only to enforce a limit of up to 5 summaries per minute per IP and to prevent abuse.
- Basic Request Logs: timestamp, user agent, and HTTP status for security, diagnostics, and reliability.
We do not require accounts, names, emails, or payment details for the core Service.
2) Advertising & Tracking Technologies
We show ads across the site. Ads may be delivered by our advertising partners (e.g., ad networks/ad exchanges). To serve, personalize, cap frequency, and measure ads, partners may use cookies, local storage, and similar identifiers, and may process: IP address, approximate location, device/browser info, ad interactions, and page context. These partners operate under their own privacy policies.
- Personalized vs. Non-Personalized Ads: Where required by law (e.g., EEA/UK), we use a consent mechanism. If you decline consent, we will strive to serve non-personalized ads (contextual/limited processing).
- Measurement & Fraud Prevention: partners may process data to detect invalid traffic and measure ad performance.
- Partner Disclosure: We work with reputable ad providers. See /ads-partners for a current list and links to their policies/controls.
We do not have access to, nor do we store, partner cookie IDs used by ad networks.
3) Your Choices & Controls
- Consent Preferences (EEA/UK and where required): Use the cookie/ consent banner or open /privacy/choices to review/change your ad consent at any time. If you refuse consent, we aim to serve non-personalized ads.
- US State Privacy Rights (e.g., CA/VA/CO/CT/UT): You may have the right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. Visit Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information to exercise this choice. We honor browser-level Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable.
- Other Tools: You can control interest-based advertising via Google Ads Settings, NAI/AdChoices, and EDAA.
- Do Not Track: While many browsers offer DNT, the industry has not adopted a single standard; we primarily honor GPC and applicable regional requirements.
4) How We Use Information
- Provide the Service and return summaries you request.
- Apply rate limits (5 summaries/minute/IP) and mitigate abuse.
- Cache results to reduce latency and compute costs.
- Maintain security, fix bugs, and improve reliability.
- Display, personalize (where permitted), and measure advertising.
When using AI providers, we send only the minimal data needed (e.g., title/language). Where available, we configure providers so your data is not used for model training.
5) Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
- Contract/Performance: to deliver your requested summaries.
- Legitimate Interests: security, fraud prevention, service quality, and non-personalized ads.
- Consent: where required for cookies/personalized ads.
- Legal Obligations: compliance with applicable laws and requests.
6) Sharing & “Sale/Sharing” Definitions
We share data with service providers (hosting, AI, logging/security) under contracts. We do not sell your personal information for money. Under certain US state laws, allowing ad partners to process data for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing.” Where applicable, you can opt out via /do-not-sell or GPC, and we will apply your choice to limit such processing.
7) Retention
IP & request logs: kept for a short period (e.g., up to retain longer if necessary to comply with law or resolve disputes. We may retain aggregate, non-identifiable statistics without time limit.
8) Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9) International Transfers
We may process data on servers outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers.
10) Children & Sensitive Categories
The Service is not directed to children where prohibited by law. We do not knowingly allow interest-based ads to children or process sensitive categories for targeted ads, and we configure ad settings to restrict sensitive content where available.
11) Your Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., EEA/UK, Brazil, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise rights or raise concerns, contact privacy@easybooksummary.com. We may need to retain certain data (e.g., IPs for security); if so, we will explain why and honor your request to the extent legally and operationally possible.
